Benefits of Integrating Social Media Into Your Website

Even if you have the most interactive website, so you think, you can still benefit greatly from integrating social media into your website.  Allowing people to take your content and interact with it the same way they do with their friends all day on Facebook, Twitter, and others is clutch.

As a whole, it’s beneficial to involve your social media  profiles because it is a great way for visitors to engage with you and learn more about your product and/or services and who you are as a company. However, I think we covered that pretty good in our blog article in the beginning of the month titled Do I Need a Social Media Strategy In Place For My Small Business?

Today, we’ll talk a little bit about why you should integrate social media features into your website, after you’ve established a social media presence.

One of the most important things people should be able to do on your website is become a fan of your company, follow your company, etc. on these social media profiles. Most social networks make it very easy to do so.

Twitter now has the “Follow button”. The follow button lets you instantly follow a twitter account without having to go to any secondary pages. We have this implemented twice throughout our website. Once, you will find it above next to the author name, so that whoever is the blog author, you can instantly start to follow them on twitter.

Another way we have it integrated is on the right hand side, you can instantly start to follow the Basch Solutions twitter account. What you’re achieving here is not only showing them that you have a Twitter profile, and encouraging them to go to it, but you are giving them the ability within half a second of seeing it, to start following you. This person now following you can now be marketed to anytime you tweet on twitter.

Facebook gives you the ability to “Like” the Facebook page or the website page without having to leave the page. You can see an example of this at the top of this page, next to the date, and below the title. On this specific page, the Like feature will tally Likes for this article, not the company page.

Once something Like’s a page, it will automatically show up on their Facebook profile, and tomorrow after the release of Facebook Timeline’s, the “Like” will show up as a link. Meaning when someone likes a page on your website, it’s the same as them posting a link and broadcasting it to all of their friends across Facebook. Seems like pretty simple marketing to me!

Aside from the Like button, you can also have a Facebook Fan box, that allows people to not only like your company on Facebook, but see pictures of other fans. Facebook uses smart technology and will show your friends pictures that are already fans of the company, if your friends are. Believe it or not, this can go a long way on impacting someone to like your company and/or to learn more about you.

Using Social Media to market and advertise your product and services is a topic for another day, but it’s important to understand that building up fan bases across your social media profiles, is crucial to social media advertising and marketing.
