Five Online Profiles Your Company Must Have in 2012

If you're still one of the few business owners that isn't sure if you need a website for your company, this blog article may not be for you, as we're going a lot further than that.

In a world where online profiles are replacing yellow page listings, and people search Google instead of the phone book, having multiple online profiles can have a plethora of benefits, ranging from Reputation Management and SEO, to a larger reach or potential customers.

1) Facebook - With over 800 million users, Facebook is the most obvious platform you need to be on. With the ability to reach every likes' friend reach, Facebook makes it easy to constantly expand your reach with every like you receive. Posting relevant information including industry tips, advice, blog posts, and links to relative sections on your website, will help keep people who have liked your page, coming back for more, and sharing it.

2) Twitter - Following the same guidelines as posting on Facebook, as the second largest social network,Twitter is a great platform to be on. You should be prepared however to understand that maintaining a Twitter account is not as easy as maintaining a Facebook. More Facebook users will like your page than twitter users pressing that follow button. Twitter users also want to see constant activity, just having a profile won't do much.

3) Google+ - A few weeks ago, Google+ may not of made the list. Given Googles new search policies, Google+ definitely makes the cut. Google is now going to include its' social network platforms posts in search results. As of now, Facebook posts, Twitter tweets, and other social media updates will not appear in Google search results, Google+ posts will however, causing Google+ activity to increase your Search rankings.

4/5) Google Places/Yahoo! Local - Having a local business listing for your company will increase searchers ability to find you. Having a Google places listing and a Yahoo! Local listing will assure that both search engines know you are relevant and up top date, scoring you points in the rankings department. These listings will also ensure that people doing searches from their smartphone devices, will find you in the "near-by" category.  For example, just imagine the impact this could have a local pizza shop. Maintaining these profiles is relatively easy and should just be checked every so often for new reviews, and to make sure all information is still up to date.

While their are a ton of more locations on the web that your company can find a home, the above listings will help jump start your companies online presence and make sure you're getting the largest reach to potential customers that your can get.
